Cool idea!

I recently bought some glassine envelopes, which I took to NY on a solo sniffari in January. I stored strips sprayed with scents I enjoyed in individual envelopes to bring home with me. Today, about 6 weeks later, the strips still hold fragrance. So if you still haven't worked out how to store the scent strips, I highly recommend glassine.

Thank you! This is exactly what I am using, plus additional protection to make sure the scents do not interact in the envelope. But I agree, you can smell things for weeks, especially vintages, they have such amazing dry downs.

This is a great idea and I totally confirm the glassine crucial role. I have some blotters (dipped, not sprayed on) at the Osmothèque stand at Esxence and, I’m not kidding, they conveyed their perfectly detectable scent not weeks, but six months later. More: for some of them (eg ‘Le Fruit defendu’) I can still smell a ‘seasoned’ drydown one year after.

This is a great idea!

It’s been a real joy to share the experience of perfumes I love or simply admire with family and friends over the past two decades.

But I’m often left feeling that I’ve not done enough with the time we had—side-by-side testing, samples made and mailed, department store and duty-free tours the world over—as though I opened only windows and no doors.

Matching words with action seems like progress, certainly in this instance, and I’ll be following this experiment very keenly. 👍

Thank you for your support! It means a lot, really. I will try to make it as interactive as possible, to ensure more windows if not doors are opened:) The main challenge is to time everything perfectly, so that one could read and smell at the same time. But I think it should work out, and generate a more meaningful and critical approach.

What a fantastic idea! If you are ever able to offer this in the U.S., I’m on board. I like this idea too because as much as I love to smell a perfume on my skin I feel like I have ended up with a lot of samples that I try once and never return to. I’d prefer to have scent strips I can tuck away (and use as bookmarks).

Amazing idea! If available in the U.S. I would love to participate. I also use glassine envelopes to carry strips to study later. Frederic Malle has wonderful little zip envelopes to enclose scent cards. I can smell the dry down on some fragrances for months. Worth asking for. Thanks for your wonderful writing.

Yet another reason I wish I lived in London… what a brilliant & beautiful idea 🤍 I remember hearing Fliss speak about her experience with Dentelle au Coeur, & being a tuberose lover myself, yearned to smell it. When I found myself in LA at the front door of a Henry Jacques boutique, I was paralyzed with imposter syndrome & couldn’t walk in. Creating an interactive experience with fragrance & your excellent writing is such a wonderful idea, & I hope you are able to extend shipping to the US someday ❤️
